The Artisans that create these are so so talented and they hand roll each and every bead. The work that is happening there is truly incredible. Daniel and Jalia were the first artisans to partner with Noonday Collection 5 years ago! Jalia shared, "Before partnering with Noonday, my only wish was that I would not leave my children as orphans. But now, I have big dreams. I dream of giving good jobs to all the unemployed people in Uganda!" Today, they employ over 300 people in their community!! To celebrate this very special first partnership and Noonday's 5th Birthday, all Ugandan pieces are 20% off for the entire month of September! So, when you purchase, know that you are a part of the change happening in these communities! Here is the link: http://bit.ly/AngelaUgandaSale
So, I decided to try on several of the Ugandan pieces with just a basic white t-shirt and a military vest. I feel like you can find these fun vests just about everywhere. I love wearing them with striped shirts too! I got mine at TJ Maxx. I paired it with a pair of jeans that you can't see.
I wear this combo ALL.THE.TIME. This is the Minted Necklace paired with a pretty, shiny necklace from India called the Waterway Necklace. The Minted is perfect for layering!
This gorgeous blue Jalia Ombre necklace is of course named after Jalia, because she designed it. It also happens to be my grandmother's favorite! The two sets of beads are connected at the back as one necklace. I also love to wear this one with gray!
This necklace is so fun! It is a little hard to see in my photo but the strands of beads are connected on each side by smaller pieces of ethically harvested horn. This one is called the Nakato and it is such a great statement necklace.
The Twilight Mukisa is such a bright and special necklace! It is a rope necklace so it can be doubled, tripled, layered, etc. It is very slimming because of its length and I love the blue, fuschia, and gray colors together! Mukisa means "Blessing" and the Artisans that create it pray that each person that wears it will be blessed and be a blessing to others!
This one is so versatile! It is another rope necklace and you can see that I actually managed to quadruple it! Sometimes I wear it long, sometimes layered, sometimes short like this. It really goes with everything and the beads are a bit smaller in case you are intimidated by some of the larger ones. It's called the Dainty Paper Bead necklace!
Oh goodness. The Firelight Necklace. This one here is one of my very favorites from the new Fall line. I get complimented on it every time I wear it. It's so unique and the BEST fall color! It has gorgeous ethically harvest horn, seed beads, and then of course layered paper beads!
Last but not least, is the Paper Dreams Necklace. This piece is so delicate and simple. It's also a long rope and you can wear it in a variety of ways. I love to layer it like this and often I'll throw on one of our Ethiopian metal pieces with it for contrast and it looks great! I paired it with the Nalwanda earrings! These are made of mixed metal and three pretty paper beads! If you like large hoops, these are a great twist on that!
I hope you guys were able to see how easy these paper bead necklaces are to wear! They go with so many things and make wonderful gifts! There are also some fun stackable bracelets and several other necklaces that are from Uganda that I didn't picture here so hop over to the website and check them out! I would love to know your favorite pieces so feel free to comment below and share with me!
